Parent Reviews

“For the camp itself we had a great experience! We would have done it again this summer but for the long shuttle ride from Gangnam.
Also my kids didn’t speak that much Korean there since all/most of the children are from us or other English speaking countries.”
“My boys had a good time for the past two summers. I would sign up for a third summer but our school year ends too late this year. (I’d sign them up again if the camp adds later weeks!) I was really impressed with the culture and history they learned in particular. It’s tricky balancing Korean education with a fun summer camp, but they do a great job. My boys loved the field trips in particular. Very well curated.”

“We enjoyed Camp Hwarang for two summers! They did a great job of mixing really fun history, culture and language. The field trips were excellent. They also tried to let the kids play outside when possible, which is hard to do with summer heat and rain. I just wish it was longer, like all summer, because there’s only so much language you can learn in a couple weeks! But my belief is any exposure is positive.”
“Intense is not how I’d describe Camp Hwarang. It’s a fun camp that exposes kids in a fun way to language, food, culture and history. I vaguely remember some homework that almost felt optional, or maybe my kids didn’t finish some language work they were supposed to do in camp.”
About the Program Founders
The founders of Camp Hwarang are moms who moved from the US to Korea and realized a huge need for a high quality Korean language & cultural immersion summer camp. Because the Korean summer break doesn’t coincide with the US, parents traveling with young kids to Korea are always disappointed they can’t find good childcare and immersion options for their kids. Inspired to create meaningful and unforgettable memories for kids and families traveling to Korea, the founders used their extensive network of local and experienced colleagues, educators, experts, and guides to create this unique camp.
