Where to Learn Korean

안녕하세요~! Hello! Today I wanted to share with you guys places that you can learn Korean at.

When it comes to learning Korean, there are many different paths you can take. The path you choose will largely depend on your goals, your desires, the ways you like to study, and the constraints you have, such as time or money constraints. No matter your situation, you can find a place to learn Korean that will work for you! On this blog, I share four places where you can learn Korean.

1. Go to Korea and Join a Korean Program

One of the most active ways to learn Korean is by actually going there. Taking a class will give you the structure and support you need to thrive.

If you are in Korea, you could consider taking Korean lessons at a Hagwon or through a college. You could travel to Korea through a flagship program, a direct enrollment program, a study abroad program, or an intensive summer immersion program.

This option is best suited for:

  • learners who want to learn Korean with the maximum support system
  • learners who want big results in a short time
  • learners who want an immersive experience
  • learners who want an intense experience
  • learners who want the lesson planning done for them
  • learners who are willing to prioritize their Korean learning financially and have the means to do so

2. Go to Korea and Learn Korean Online

Going to Korea is a great way to get an immersive experience and have plenty of opportunities (and an urgent need) to practice your Korean skills. Going to Korea will give you a ton of input and will allow you to focus your study in a task-oriented way. There are tons of resources online that you can learn from and then put what you learn into action in real life!

You don’t need to enroll in an official program while you are in Korea if that isn’t your style or you don’t have the time or money to do so. You could learn Korean online and then practice your Korean as you go about your day-to-day life in Korea. Maybe you are teaching English in Korea and want a flexible way to improve your Korean. This is the way to go!

This option is best suited for:

  • Those who want to experience Korea
  • Those who are adventurous and have tough skin
  • Those who have the financial means for travel
  • Those who have a reason to travel to Korea other than language learning and would like to learn some Korean while there
  • Those who are okay with a limited support system
  • Those who want to learn the language quickly (as long as you put effort into self-studying)

3. Join a Korean Program Where You Live

Joining a Korean program will give you the structure and support you need, no matter where you live. Joining a class can also give you the chance to practice your Korean with native speakers and other Korean learners.

Programs near you may include Korean language schools, local Korean classes, or college classes. These classes can be a great way to practice speaking Korean in real life and to help improve your confidence in a safe environment.

This option is best suited for:

  • learners who want to learn Korean with a great support system
  • learners who want great results in a short time
  • learners who want a semi-immersive experience
  • learners who want a semi-intense experience
  • learners who want the lesson planning done for them
  • learners who are willing to prioritize their Korean learning financially and have the means to do so
  • learners who have access to local Korean programs

4. Learn Korean Online From Home

Learning Korean online is completely possible, although it is more challenging than learning in country. One can be fully capable of getting to a high level of understanding from input alone. It all depends on your personal goals.

There are many ways to learn Korean online these days. You can enroll in an online program, learn through an app, pay for a subscription, video call with a tutor, chat with native Koreans, join a live class, or watch Youtube videos. The options are almost endless.

This option is best suited for:

  • Those with financial, time, or logistic limitations
  • Those whose main goal is understanding Korean rather than speaking it
  • Those highly motivated
  • Those who are good at planning or being consistent
  • Those who are not in a crunch to learn Korean
  • Those who are resourceful

No matter how you go about learning Korean, it will take hard work and dedication, but I promise you it will be worth it! You can do it! Hwaiting~
